This Privacy Policy describes how Street 86 Systems, Inc. ("Street 86", "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects personal information in connection with the totally.nyc address reservation process (including native.nyc, currently.nyc, formerly.nyc, and always.nyc). This policy covers the reservation and attestation process only. A separate privacy policy will govern the activated email service upon launch.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
When you reserve a totally.nyc address, we collect:
- Name — your legal first, middle (if applicable), and last name, as provided during reservation.
- Email address — used to communicate with you about your reservation and any subsequent steps.
Payment for the Validation Fee is handled entirely by Stripe, Inc. We do not receive or store your payment information. See Section 3 for details.
By completing a reservation, you affirm your eligibility under the applicable totally.nyc domain. No separate attestation document is collected at this stage.
1.2 Information Collected Through Verification
If you proceed to document-based verification, you will be asked to submit identity documentation (such as a New York City birth certificate, hospital birth record, or proof of residence) to a third-party verification service designated by Street 86 Systems. We do not receive or retain copies of your identity documents. The verification service returns only a pass or fail result to us, along with required metadata: your validated legal name and the borough or location confirmed by your documentation.
1.3 Information Collected Automatically
When you access our reservation website, we may collect standard technical information, including IP address, browser type, and referring URL, for security and fraud prevention purposes. We do not use this information for advertising or behavioral tracking.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected during the reservation process solely for the following purposes:
- To process and hold your address reservation;

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
We share limited personal information with the following categories of third-party service providers, solely as necessary to operate the reservation process:
- Payment processor — Stripe, Inc. collects and processes your Validation Fee payment directly. We do not receive or handle your payment information. Stripe's privacy practices are governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Identity verification service — We use a third-party service to perform document-based verification when required. This service receives your submitted documentation directly and returns only a pass/fail result and validated metadata to us. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policy, which will be disclosed to you prior to initiating verification. You may request details of the third-party service used to process your reservation by emailing privacy@totally.nyc.
4. Data Retention
We retain the personal information collected during the reservation process for as long as your reservation remains active and for a reasonable period thereafter to resolve disputes, enforce our terms, or comply with legal obligations. Specifically:
- Reservation data
- Verification metadata
We do not receive or retain copies of identity documents submitted through the verification service.
5. Security and NY SHIELD Act Compliance
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we collect against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures are designed to be appropriate to the nature and scope of the information we hold.
Street 86 Systems complies with the New York Stop Hacks and Improve Electronic Data Security Act (NY SHIELD Act), which requires businesses that handle the private information of New York residents to maintain a reasonable data security program. In the event of a breach of the security of private information, we will notify affected individuals in accordance with our obligations under New York law.
